Croeso i wefan Clwb Camera Blaenau
Welcome to the Blaenau Camera Club web site
The club originated back in 1961, and has embraced the various changes within the genre of photography.
Today the group is a successful small social group of very friendly, bilingual local photographic enthusiasts who meet weekly at Blaenau Ffestiniog, and we welcome and encourage new members to join us, whatever they're photographic preference, interest and ability.
The club meets at the Ganolfan Blaenau Ffestiniog (By the Health Centre on Wynne Road), on Wednesday evenings over the winter months, September to April. Normal start time is 7.30pm, the exception being an earlier 7.00 p.m. start due to judging a competition evening (please check with us first).
There is a full programme arranged every week, on a variety of topics and aspects of photography.
For members who wish to enter the variety of competitions – your images are adjudicated and critiqued by a guest judge, and marks awarded (we have a beginners section for new members) should they wish. Being a member does not mean you have to enter any competition.
Inter Club Competitions – when we have a guest club or are guests of another club to battle our best 30 images against theirs.
Practical evenings for learning/teaching where we can learn, gain suggestions/tips on how to improve our photos.
Lighting technique evenings, when we learn by having a studio set up, and one or two models in for practical lessons, your own cameras would be needed for these. We are fortunate as a club that we have invested in lights and a backdrop for these evenings which members can borrow.
There are also Digital nights when we gain knowledge of PC related photography techniques like Photoshop, from the basic to advanced. An evening or two when we have guest speakers, showing and explaining where, and how they photographed and finalised the images they show.
As a club, we try and provide a programme that the members request.
And of course there is always a nice cuppa to end the evenings, with time for a chat and exchange ideas.
During the summer months, we have social photography outings, when we go as a group to various locations around North Wales to practice what we have learned.
For any further information please do not hesitate to contact one of the clubs delegated officials.
NWPA Battle 2017
It gives me great pleasure in saying our club won the prints section of the NWPA Battle at Craig y Don, Llandudno with Bob Dennis judging. With Llandudno taking the overall prize, also claiming the PDI section, we finished 2nd overall which for a small club is astounding. To top it all Iona O'Neill won the best colour print (shown above) "Searching for food".
Well done to all who had their images used in the competition.
